Pioneer Preschool was established in 1997 and currently has a quality program rating of 4 and is in the process of reaching a quality top rating of 5 (rated on a scale of 1 to 5). Pioneer Preschool’s Early Education Program provides care for children 6 weeks through 5 years old. The program provides an environment of acceptance that supports and respects gender, ethnicity, individual languages, culture, and family composition. Teaching staff provide programming with a balance of both child-initiated and adult-directed activities designed to assist children as they create, explore, experiment, solve problems, ask questions and gain mastery through learning. The curriculum (Creative Curriculum and Frog Street Curriculum, Montessori) is based on the premise that learning occurs in all developmental areas – physical, social, emotional, and cognitive. Curriculum content is interwoven from various disciplines, such as language, math, science, and social studies to help children develop an understanding of concepts and to make concrete connections. The program’s goal is to provide a nurturing and safe environment for each child and to elevate the learning atmosphere where each child will develop attitudes that will enable them to reach their full potential.
Cripple Creek-Victor School District is the grantee for the Head Start and Early Head Start grants. There are funding opportunities for eligible children through Head Start, Early Head Start and Colorado Preschool.
